Content warning: spoilers in pics

I grabbed the second in the Midsolar Murders series, “Chaos Terminal,” because the first was pleasant and a space murder mystery seemed fun.
The editing was so poorly done that I had to keep re-reading entire sections, my mental image of a crime scene or interview blown up by it.
These images are spoilers, obviously. If you look…
1. Where is Reggie?
2. When does Mallory stand?
3. Is she talking *to* or *about* Parker?
And I only started taking pics at the end…

Reggie went back into the bathroom; Parker went to ask the bartender. Draughn stood with Amy, Max, and Reggie, then started moving around the room. Finding the body would look sudden and unintentional, he decided. He found the little closet.
"I don't think you have motive to kill me," Mallory said. "Although sometimes people kill when someone gets too close to the truth." She stood up and dropped Amy's hand. "Dammit. I had to talk to someone. And you're the only one who gets the a Parker thing."
"I still can't believe you could think that one of your oldest friends could do that. I can't believe that you'd drop that bomb on Parker and then leave him alone."
Mallory stood up, feeling a thousand years old. "These are reasons why I …
"Third, when the Cuckoos came to protect you, they left Amy alone and stung Draughn. I thought they left her alone because she was your sibling and an honorary member of the hive, but I don't think it had anything to do with her. Draughn was the murderer, and Parker thought he was in danger as well, so they swarmed to protect him, but they also attacked the person they thought was attacking one of their own. They've known all along who did it."
"I still don't know-" Parker said.

Far be it from me to tell a country how to genocide, but it seems like a bad idea to indiscriminately bomb a place that has hostages you want returned.

The next day the supermarket was hit by shrapnel from an Israeli aerial bombardment. “It was atrocious. It was the first time we really felt like our lives were in danger,” Almog-Goldstein said.

“We heard the constant shelling and bombing getting closer and closer and could already see all the stones flying around and the rubble and shrapnel. It was closing up on us to the point where the Hamas guards put mattresses over us on the floor to cover us, and then they covered us with their bodies…

I have decided, as a #selfhost with just two other people on my instance, that I'm going to limit threads.net following the example of @… quoted below. I didn't know that you can “unlimit” specific accounts! This is an interesting option.

A screenshot from the mastodon admin page for the threads.net domain after it has been “limited” and so appears in the list in the Federated section as a limited account. There are a number of graphs, all clickable, that show stored accounts, stored posts, stored media, their followers here, our followers there, and reports about them.
A screenshot showing the full admin page with menu on the side ad Accounts selected under Moderation. This is where you go when you click on the stored accounts graph under the threads.net domain federation page. There are a number of accounts listed with their posts, followers, and last active.

Same screenshot as previous but now there is a green “Successfully undid limit of stonekettle@threads.net” message and the Login status is now “No limits imposed”

Judge Aileen Cannon’s delays in Trump classified documents case dashes July trial hopes
US district judge Aileen Cannon received proposed trial start dates from Trump and the special counsel Jack Smith more than a month ago in advance of a hearing ostensibly to settle the matter in Fort Pierce, Florida, but she has still not decided when the proceeding will begin.
As a result, Trump has been able to avoid filing certain pre-trial motions that have to be completed before the case…
